  • What is the Blood Cup made of? Is it safe?
Your cup is made of 100% medical-grade silicone and is completely safe! Unlike some other period products, it’s free from chemicals, dyes, and other nasties, and won’t dry you out. Just a couple more reasons why cups are so awesome, and why we love ‘em so much!
  • Where is the Blood Cup made?
The Blood Cup is made in an FDA-registered and ISO 13485 certified facility in the USA.
  • How long will my cup last for?
With proper care, your cup can last for up to 10 years. If you love being in a committed relationship, saving the planet, and more money in the bank – we can’t think of a better match for you!
  • What size is the Blood Cup?
We currently have one size, which holds 25ml (or approximately 4 pads' worth). It's an ideal size to kickstart your cup journey. While everyone's bodies are different, our size fits most comfortably.

With our 120-days risk free trial, it's a great way for you to try the Blood Cup for a few cycles!
  • Does it hurt to wear a menstrual cup? Is it safe?
Your cup is made of 100% medical-grade silicone and is completely safe! Unlike some other period products, it’s free from nasties and won’t dry you out. It may look a little daunting at first, but your cup is soft, flexible and will mold to your shape. When worn correctly, you won’t feel a thing.Just a couple more reasons why cups are so awesome, and why we love ‘em so much!
  • How do I insert my cup?
Fold your cup and get it as small as possible, and then insert it rim-first into your vagina. Our video guides show you some nifty folding techniques; take the time to play around and figure out your favourite one.
  • Will the cup get stuck or lost inside me?
That’s a common first-timer concern, but don’t worry, your cup cannot get lost inside you. When inserted correctly, it sits snugly in your vagina just below your cervix – which makes it anatomically impossible for your cup to pass through!
  • How often do I have to empty it?
Your cup can be worn for up to 12 hours, even while you’re asleep! Depending on your flow, you may have to empty it 2-4 times a day.
  • Will it leak?
When inserted correctly, your cup will pop open and create a suction seal, which helps to prevent leaks. However, accidents do happen. If you encounter frequent leaks, you may have to experiment with different folding techniques or angles, or check that your cup has fully opened.
  • How is a menstrual cup different from other period products?
Unlike a pad or tampon, a menstrual cup works by collecting, instead of absorbing blood. It holds up to 4 pads’ worth, which means you won’t have to change or empty it as often. And for all you planet-friendly sistas out there – a cup is reusable and lasts up to 10 years, so you’ll be doing Mother Nature a massive favour!
  • Does it hurt to wear a menstrual cup?
It may look a little daunting at first, but your cup is soft, flexible and will mould to your shape. When worn correctly, you won’t even feel a thing.
  • Is it easy to use?
You may master the cup on your first try, or it may take you a few cycles. Everyone’s different and that’s OK! But that’s why we offer a 120 days risk-free trial – so be patient and try your cup out worry-free.

Once you get the hang of things, you’ll love how life-changing your cup can be!
  • Can virgins use menstrual cups?
Menstrual cups are for anyone who has a period. There are no age limits, but you should be comfortable with your body and period. Virgins may find that they have tighter vaginal muscles which may make insertion harder at first, but with practice, your body will adapt to accommodate a cup. Just take things slow and steady!

Insertion

  • How do I insert my cup?
Fold your cup and get it as small as possible, and then insert it rim-first into your vagina. Our video guides show you some nifty folding techniques; take the time to play around and figure out your favourite one.
  • Should I use lubricant to help with insertion?
Go right ahead! Water is a great natural lubricant, so keep your cup wet after you’ve rinsed it before use. Otherwise, make sure you get a lubricant that’s water-based and safe for internal use. Please don’t use anything oil-based as that will degrade the silicone over time.
  • How do I know if my cup is inserted correctly?
Once worn, check that your cup has fully opened by running a finger around its base and rotating it slightly. It should feel smooth and round. The punch-down fold opens more easily compared to the C-fold or 7-fold.
  • I’m having difficulty inserting my cup. What can I do?
Breathe in, breathe out. Try to relax and get into a comfortable position. For first-timers, you may also want to insert and remove your cup in the shower. Practice makes perfect, but if you have an urgent cup SOS, reach out to us and we’ll help you through it!
  • Will the cup get stuck or lost inside me?
That’s a common first-timer concern, but don’t worry, your cup cannot get lost inside you. When inserted correctly, it sits snugly in your vagina just below your cervix – which makes it anatomically impossible for your cup to pass through!
  • Help! I’m having difficulty removing my cup.
Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. Stay relaxed so that your vaginal muscles don’t tense up. Try squatting and imitate a pooping motion to push the cup lower within your reach. If that doesn’t work, take a break. Walk around and wait to try again, or take a hot bath to relax your muscles.
  • Will it leak?
When inserted correctly, your cup will pop open and create a suction seal, which helps to prevent leaks. However, accidents do happen. If you encounter frequent leaks, you may have to experiment with different folding techniques or angles, or check that the cup has fully opened.
  • Is it messy?
Let’s be honest. Messes can happen, especially when you’re still figuring out your technique. Getting a bit of blood on your fingers can be expected, but using a cup is fuss-free once you get used to it. To help prevent spillage, remove the cup slowly and keep it in an upright position when you pull it out. You can also start by inserting and removing your cup in the shower – this will help you to acclimate without worrying about the mess.
  • How often do I have to empty my cup?
Your cup can be worn for up to 12 hours. Depending on your flow, you may have to empty it 2-4 times a day.
  • What happens if I have to empty my cup in a public toilet?
Always make sure that you insert and remove your cup with clean hands. If you don’t have easy access to a sink, you can rinse your cup in your cleansing pouch filled with water, or wipe it with toilet paper and reinsert.
  • How do I clean my cup during my cycle?
Rinse your cup with water and a cleanser formulated for menstrual cups, or with mild soap that’s fragrance-free, oil-free and pH-balanced. Also check that the air holes are clear by rubbing the cup between your hands and squeezing it so that water passes through the holes. A toothpick could come in handy to unclog any residue.
  • How do I sanitise my cup?
Always sanitise your cup after each cycle to keep it clean and ready for future use. We’ve included a cleansing pouch for fuss-free sanitisation; just place your cup in the pouch with water, and microwave it for 2-3 minutes. You can also boil it in water for 5 minutes, but do make sure your cup doesn’t touch the bottom of the pot.
  • How do I prevent stains or discolouration?
Silicone may become discoloured over time, but your cup will still be good to use. To prevent discolouration, rinse your cup first with cold water before continuing the cleaning process.
  • Will there be any odour?
Unlike other period products, cups are pretty much odour-free as your blood won’t come into contact with air. If you catch a whiff of something iffy, leave your cup to dry in direct sunlight. You can also soak it in a solution of half water and half vinegar (lemon does the trick as well) for an hour – but be sure to boil it after so that any residue is gone.
  • How should I store my cup between uses?
Always store it in a breathable container. We recommend popping it into the cleansing pouch with the zipper open.
  • I’m pretty active. Can I keep to my usual activities while wearing a cup?
Yes! The cup life is all about that feel-nothing flow, so you should never feel held back by your period again. Run, swim, or do a handstand – your cup suits any occasion all day, any day.
  • Can I pee or poop while wearing my cup?
Yes, you can! But if your cup moves or affects your urine flow, just remove and reinsert it.
  • Can I wear my cup while having sex?
Nope, please remove it before you get intimate. The cup is also not a contraceptive nor will it protect you against sexually transmitted diseases.
  • Can I use my cup if I have an IUD?
Yes. But we recommend that you get the all-clear from your doctor first as the IUD may dislodge or need adjustments.
  • Is it possible to get Toxic Shock Syndrome from using a cup?
It’s possible, but highly unlikely. TSS is a rare but serious disease that may cause death, and it’s important that you seek medical help immediately if you experience any of these symptoms: sudden high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, a rash resembling sunburn, dizziness, muscle pain, or fainting.

Avoid using your cup if you’re aware of any internal abrasions or wounds that you may have, as TSS can occur when toxins enter your bloodstream.
  • I can’t get used to the cup. Can I get a refund?
Yes! As much as we hope that you’ll love your cup as much as we do, your happiness matters the most. That’s why we offer you a 120 days risk-free trial – so sit back, relax, and take the time to try out your cup without any stress.

Products – Pain Relief Patches

Great question! Our patches are 100% drug-free, which means they're a totally natural way to get effective relief without any side effects.

Here's the science behind them – they rely on an exothermic reaction within the pouch to emit heat. When the ingredients (iron powder, carbon and salt) inside the pouch come into contact with air, a reaction is triggered and heat will be emitted. All this magic happens within 5 minutes, and the patches steadily warm up to provide effective relief in 12 minutes.

Safety first, so please remove the patches when you sleep! Your sleep surroundings, such as your bed and pillow, may artificially increase the temperature of the patches to a higher level which can be unsafe. You will also not be able to monitor the temperature while sleeping, which may lead to low degree burns. Keep safe, Blood fam!

Your body deserves better! Our patches are 100% drug-free and use only real heat to alleviate pain and relax muscles.

Good news, mama! While we do not encourage the use of heat patches on the abdomen area during pregnancy (so store your MenstruHeat away for now), the other patches should be good to go! Localised heat patches don't raise your core body temperature like saunas or jacuzzis, so they are generally safe to use during pregnancy. That said, we always recommend that you check with your gynaecologist for extra precaution as we're not able to assess your pregnancy condition.

If you do apply BackHeat/NeckHeat/KneeHeat, please remember to remove the patches periodically to give your skin time to breathe, especially if you have more sensitive skin. You should also not be using the patches overnight as you will be unable to monitor how hot it gets when you're asleep.

They're meant to be used only once. Once out of their packets, our patches activate upon coming into contact with air and last up to 12 hours. Please do not heat up or microwave them!
